Single Women Are Having A Moment. Men Hate It.
The rise of unmarried, childfree women shows a dramatic change in a society desperately clinging to patriarchal standards
Research currently predicts that by 2030, 45 percent of women ages 25–44 will be single and childless. At first, this statistic may sound like a tragedy — the decline of marriage and families. But if you look around and talk to adult women who are living their lives free of the responsibilities of caring for a husband and children, you may be surprised. Women are choosing to prioritize themselves and can do so for what may be the first time in history.
Other research has found that women who are unmarried and don’t have children are the happiest subgroup of people. It turns out that it’s men who stand to benefit most from marriage and parenthood, claiming most of the benefits with little of risk or detriments. There’s no sacrifice of their physical health to carry and birth and care for children; less economic risk if they get divorced.
