People who are suffering to survive have the right to tell other people who have the luxury of traveling for pleasure to shut up when they don't feel like listening to stories that will make them feel bad about their current financial circumstances. They don't have to be mean about it, but they absolutely have the right to change the subject or stop listening if it causes negative emotions.
